May's Book Choice

Our Book Choice for May is How to Win Friends & Influence people by Dale Carnegie.  An oldie but a goodie, always worth another read.  And if you haven't read it a good first read.  It's advice is timeless . . . . .

  8. Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
  9. Make the other person happy about doing what you suggest.

In this chapter, notably the shortest in the book, Carnegie analyzes two letters and describes how to appeal to someone's vanity with the term "do me a favor" as opposed to directly asking for something which does not offer the same feeling of importance to the recipient of the request.

  2. Thanks for the comment LeeAnn . . . . . it made me question whether or not I had updated this and I hadn't!!!!

    I used these principles just the other day when I wanted to one-up someone but bit my tongue instead! This was the best all the way around. Now if I can remember to continue this way of thinking! :)
